a mini for mini-me

a few of the pages...

If you read this blog then you know that I love my Bind-it-All and I love fabric! So, while my girls were cuddled up taking naps I had a brilliant idea--instead of finishing the crib bumper, or tackling the work that was piled up on my desk, or trying to sneak some sleep in myself, I made this super simple mini. 'Simple' meaning it took me hardly any time at all so I couldn't be too hard on myself for procrastinating. :)

First, I cut some thick cardstock into 4X4 squares covered each with fabric and sewed around the edges. Then, I added some of my favorite photos, some letter stickers, and a couple flowers. Sometimes it's tough to keep it simple but I rose above the impulse to add more embellies! Remembering what the all-knowing Ali Edwards said in her August article of CK- focus on the photos + words when designing mini albums, so that's what i did! Lastly, I easily punched through each page and bound it together! Voila! I wanted it to have a vintage feel and I love the frayed edges the BIA left.

Now about that nap? Yeah, right. :)

*Edited: Use some sort of liquid glue to adhere the pics, I use Diamond Glaze. Also use pinking shears to cut the fabric. They're special scissors that leave a zing zag edge and keep the fabric from fraying too much.

  6. Okay... I know I want to purchase the bind-it-all... but I have a question.

Do you have special scissors that will cut fabric into the zig zag shape? Or are they just regular scrapbooking deco scissors? Because I'm fairly confident my deco-scissors will NOT cut fabric!

How did you get the pictures to stick? scrap glue of some sort?

  8. I love it! The simplicity of it makes it even more cute! I can't believe you still have time to be creative... you're amazing!

How'd you get the pictures, letters, and flower to stick?

Also- silly question, what's your favorite adhesive for scrapbooking/crafts? And what's your favorite marker/pen for scrapbook journaling?

  9. Super cute! If I had 1/2 the creativity you do, I would be...well... pretty creative. ;-)

I am adding the bind-it-all to my wish list (along with getting my 1970s sewing machine fixed, and learning to use it--HA!)

Glad to see you are finding time to do things just for you that you enjoy!!

Always a pleasure reading the blog!

    Love it..

  73. I was so inspired by this cute mini album, I had to go out and buy my very own sewing machine. Now I just need to figure out how it works. :)

  74. An idea to make this quick book even easier...most quilt shops sell "Charm Packs" which are bundles of precut 5-inch squares, all from the same line of fabric so they all coordinate--and the edges are already pinked. I'm planning on trying this project very soon! Thanks for all the great ideas...
