Where is Spring?

I can't believe it's snowing!! My poor daffodils!

I guess I should be grateful for this weather otherwise I wouldn't have wanted to be inside working on my weekend project and new hobby.

My sister found out that she is also having a little girl so we decided to each make a quilt. I'm now officially obsessed with quilting. Mostly because the 'Ginger Blossom' line of fabric is so stinkin' cute!! Collin went to a conference for our church Saturday night so Avery and I watched 'Enchanted' and I sewed all the squares and borders together.

Do you love the baby bump? I wish Collin would have been home to take a picture when Avery had to sit on my lap as I sewed. It was a tight squeeze! :)

Since this is my first quilt I kept it simple with 4.5" squares and a top and bottom border. I'm excited to finish the rest-or I guess pay someone to do the embroidery design. :)

  1. Very Cute!! I have always been opposed to sewing, but you are right the ginger blossom line is ADORABLE. . . it's making me itch to sew something. Then of course you make it look so easy :)

Are those daffodils pictures you took? How sad to see snow on them. . . Spring is my FAVORITE time of year!

Conference was GREAT! I don't know if you heard this talk, but my husband was teasing me about scrapbooking, internet surfing, and all of the other projects I like to do. NICE! In my defense the speaker did say pick a couple things and become good at them so you are well rounded!!

  5. Liz, that's awesome that you are getting into quilting! I absolutely love the fabric and just happen to be using some of that exact fabric in the quilt I'm making right now. One little known fact about me is that I LOVE to quilt!!! Maybe I'll get brave enough someday to post pictures of some of my quilts on my blog...we'll see. The next time we get together maybe you and I can quilt while the boys watch a game or something. :)

  7. Such bueatiful fabrics! I also have a passion for quilting. Well, most of it. I love picking the fabrics and putting then together but most of the time I just tack then together because the actual quilting part is not really my 'thang'. LOL!

I like the picture that shows your baby bump. Did you use a timer to take these or was this after Collin was home?

And I don't know that I've ever commented on your blog- I found it after seeing you on Creating Keepsakes (I think).

  23. Those fabrics are gorgeous. My mom keeps trying to get me to try quilting. She's amazing at it, but I don't think I have it in me. I think I'll stick to sewing on my SB pages for now.
Make sure you post that quilt when it's all finished.

  25. I am so glad you are a sewing geek too! I am into sewing lately as well! I have been working on a quilt for months. Hopefully someday I will finish. My mom just had someone machine quilt a blanket for Bryson and it was a VERY decent price. She is in Orem, or Provo so if you are interested let me know and I can get her name for ya! Hope you are doing well. Gotta love "building the nest!"

  29. I have been sewing a lot lately too and its kind of rewarding to see a finished project, dont you think? Enchanted is a great movie except for Jake likes it more than I do now- dont tell anyone I said that :) but I liked it so much I watched it 3 times in a row and got a little burnt out so now I cant watch it for a long time. You know how it is. Its a little over-the-top dramatic but its still cute. We find out in 2 more days what we are having- cant wait!!!

  41. Here's 'random stranger' comment #2! :) Super cool quilting project. I received a sewing machine a few years ago for Christmas but I haven't played with it too much. I'm thinking more and more I should make that a priority.

  46. Hi LIz. . . . let's get together on some Sunday afternoon and tie your quilt top together for little You-Know-Who with the family all able to put in some of the stitches! We could tie it up with love.

Avery and I had so much fun this morning. . .while Daddy was at work and you were in Mesa at the CK conference. . . and when she went to sleep, I had to, too! Now I know why Grandma's don't have babies at my age! WHEW. . . I needed the nap as much as she did!

Did you know Pah-pah is calling your girls" Q and A"?

  47. Beautiful fabrics!

I'm a quilter too. I think scrapbooking and quilting are kind of similar. Scrapbooking is better because you get the completed project done much quicker but they both have addicting "stash" collecting.
