That is what I tell myself when approaching Avery on my scrap desk.
The key to avoiding complete and utter chaos:
Approach her carefully
Don't make any sudden movements
Before attempting to pry the jar of buttons from her determined-to-make-a-mess little fingers say words like: Barney, Coloring, or if you are desperate-Cookies
Slowly remove her without those big boots causing any more damage :)
I guess you could say it's partly my fault that she is perched up on my desk because yesterday we were counting the buttons and putting them back in the jar. Too bad I can't say that it's her fault that my desk is a disaster :)!
Finishing up one of my big projects today... I should post some before and after shots of how I am going to organize... count this photo as the before. :o)
That is awesome!!!! Too funny... She is so tinkin cute.
ReplyDeleteThat's too cute! I'm normally just a lurker, but had to comment on these photos. Her face says it all! "You caught me" and that smile and laugh in the second one!!! Priceless! Love your blog and your photos and scrappin' style! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteAdorable. My son is obsessed with his winter boots. What is it about them? Can't wait to see how you organized all the chaos that seems to make sense to a crafter.
ReplyDeleteI usually also don't leave comments on your blog....but I read it faithfully :) That little turkey face reminds me so much of my 2 year old......who LOVES to get into my ink drawer, open the lids and fingerpaint. If my girl could climb on my desk....scary!
ReplyDeletetoo cute! my little 2.5year old daughter LOVES to go through my button jars... "butt-Ons Mom?" we dump them on to the floor and she sorts away... all the pretty shapes, large buttons, and then the others! fun times :)
ReplyDeletei normally just stalk your blog, but i have to comment on how beautiful the wall color turned out in that room and i have always wondered where you found the tiered bowls? i guess that is what you call it-the adorable bright colored bowls displayed in the tiered rack? and, she is too cute! love the flower in her hair!
ReplyDeleteyou're awesome!! love it all...love your sweet girl, her boots...love the scrap space, the wall color...and love your story telling.
ReplyDeleteWatch out, think you have a future scrapbooker and potential stash thief on your hands!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat pics :-)
That is so funny. All of us with kids have had this happen to us before, LOL. Right now my little one is a sleep on the floor of my scrap room.
ReplyDeleteThat must have been a mini-heart attack! I once found my toddler with her brand new safety scissors, happily cutting up a finished 12x12 layout! Thankfully it was a page I didn't care for and she didn't slice any pictures.
ReplyDeleteHow proud does she look though!
love it! and i thought my charlotte was the only one who wore her ladybug rainboots all.winter.long. so funny you posted these pics - i wanted to see if you would post about your office and how/where you put things - i just got a mm carousel for xmas from my hubby and kids and i am scared to touch it...it is so cute and white and neat and clean - whatever will i put all in there?! mess it all up with my doo-dads i guess, i love order i am just and i love lurking into other people's offices and scrap spaces..so maybe you will indulge us!!!???pleaseeezzz....???!!! also, what isssue of ck was your office/interview in last year?
ReplyDeleteGreat photos! She is such a doll. Gotta appreciate her innocent curiosity. She is such a beautiful little girl...and LOVE your desk. I love the mess...just pure evidence that creative goodness is happening here! I would LOVE to see your big project too...lol
ReplyDeleteOMG, I had a knot in my stomach when I first saw her on your desk - that is my biggest fear!! but I was loving the fact that your desk looks like mine in the middle of a page or project. They never show that in mags or scraproom pics!! can't wait to see what you have been up to!!
ReplyDeleteI've never been able to resist jars of buttons either - not even rubber boots would stop me climbing on my scrapbook supplies so I'm with your little Beauty there ;)
ReplyDeleteThat first picture of Avery is really amazing...I think your photography skills are amazing!!! Now teach me!!
ReplyDeletechildren can be compared to cats and dogs in sooo many ways! i totally love that her boots are on the wrong feet. We are in the "i can 'do it' myself" phase at our house too!
ReplyDeleteI love your family photos!!! It´s very nice!!!
ReplyDeleteScenario all too familiar.. soon, too soon I believe, I will have pics of all 3 of my angels committing the same offense.. too bad they don't all have Avery's "deer in the headlights" expression.. too cute!
ReplyDeleteOhhh!! The above comment was really me.. not my hubby... ;)
ReplyDeleteToo cute, Liz. Avery is my fave. Oh, and thanks for the Sundance photos. We are hot. And we want to come over and play Rock Band, k? Hey, incidentally, what paint color is that on your office wall? I LOOOVE it.
ReplyDeleteCute photos! I noticed the messy desk, but what caught my eye even MORE was that her big boots were on the wrong feet. I remember when my littles did that, soooooo cute.
ReplyDeleteHow precious is she? LOVE the flower!!!
ReplyDeleteOk seriously. She is SO cute and your office is just how I would picture your office:) Too cute.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cutie... I myself have had to pick up the bottons quite a few times... my daughter is 4 and loves to dump them out and look for purple ones...
ReplyDeleteHave fun with her!!
What a girl!
ReplyDeleteOh my, your bloggy is so cute! I'm in your photo class and was checkin' out people's blogs in our class. Your babies are so darling!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great post! I like the part about watching out for the boots!
ReplyDeleteShe is SO cute! I hear you on approaching calmly and saying words like "Barney" & "cookies". :)
ReplyDeleteSo fun. Love it all, even the messy desk. That just means you're creative and making progress!!
That is hilarious! Love the title and what cute pictures! :)
ReplyDeleteAmber
Ha ha. Quite funny.
ReplyDeleteHaha..omg, Cookie! That's what I tell my little one in desperation as well. Only my little on is 15 months and she says "kiki", haha. If I don't try and give her something else she's interested in, she'll just throw the hugest fit in the world!
ReplyDeleteWhat great photos and laugh out loud story. She is a doll baby! Don't stress about your desk, it just shows that you are in the middle of creating magicial & I am so sure inpsiring pages!
ReplyDeleteToo cute, girls and their boots..my 3 year old niece is obsessed with her cowboy boots I got her...Now as for the desk..if you think that is messy I will never show you mine..I mean come on you see the top of it..;-) thanks for sharing the cute pictures!
ReplyDeleteToo, too cute! I love the "oh no! I'm in so much trouble" look in the first photo to the "whew! If I laugh and give mommy a good picture maybe I'm ok" photo. I totally remember that panic of finding my daughter in my then "craft" stuff. The thud of my heart as it hits my stomach and then bounced up to my throat so that I couldn't even speak.
ReplyDeleteBetter watch out for tomorrow - she'll top this one! Have your camera ready . . .
What a lovely photo. I too noticed the boots on the wrong feet! Makes me a bit sad that my boys are past that stage now (7 & 10). She's very cute and is growing up quite a bit too - she's looking a little older.
ReplyDeletePlease give us more posts with your office, storage, stash and definitely not least a ton of photos of all your LO's - ones we haven't seen before and things you're working on.
Oh! Also what do you think of all the new lovliness at CHA?
I've been lurking on the Craft Critique blog and they've shown LOADS of new stuff and posted links too. So exciting!!
Have you any favs yet? Loving October Afternoon's new stuff - the cherry range esp. Check it out!
LOL! This so reminds me whey when we moved into our new house I made sure I had a dedicated room in the basement (which is off limits to the munchkins). My son used to always come into my scrap room, hence I never got any layouts done. He always made a beeline for my decorative scissors, pen, stamps and ink. Never climbed on my table, thank god!! But my cat, many times, would be found curled up on my works in progress looking so cute. Now that he is gone, I miss those moments of finding him where he didn't belong.
ReplyDeleteaww!! she is so stinkin cute :) I have a ten month old son... I'm terrified of the day that he can get into my scrap room.
ReplyDeleteshe is so cute- love the look on her face in the first photo- caught red-handed! and those boots! Sweet.
ReplyDeleteI cant wait to see pics of your scrap room- I love looking at other peoples' scrap spaces. Have fun!
Wanna see mine? check out my new blog!
Very funny and sooooo cute! As my son is approaching crawling, I'm wondering how to scrap while keeping him out of my things. Hopefully I can keep it high enough but they always find a way to climb. My older girls already think the scrap supplies are theirs as well, so I had to give them their own craft bins...guess I'll just have to add one more bin to my shelf. Thanks for sharing the adorable photos!
ReplyDelete-Sarah
LOL - thats hysterical! I see a great scrap page with these photos in your future!
ReplyDeleteAdorable!!
ReplyDeleteMy 2 yr old is constantly climbing around on my desk and sending me into a panic.
We have those boots too. :)
And I LOVE that you put flowers in her hair. I'm a big fan of hair flowers on little (and big!) girls.
Also wondering where you got the cute bowls (green, red, yellow) and rack? Such cute picutres!
ReplyDeleteSeeing photos of Avery in her boots inside the house makes me smile. She must like to wear them ALL the time. Too cute. And its nice to see that your scrap desk isn't always clean and clutter free. And also like to know where you got the 4 tier stand with the colored bowls and the magnetic board.
ReplyDeleteToo cute! I am a lurker too...but these photos are fantastic. The first photo screams "uh, well, i'm caught now" and the 2nd says "whatcha gonna do about it mom?"....lol! I have an Avery too, she is going to be six in four weeks. Your scrapbooking ROCKS.
ReplyDeleteThat is super cute! My boys would head straight for the glue and scissors!
ReplyDeleteHehehehe, what a cutie!
ReplyDeleteYep thats my niece. I fall deeper and deeper in love with this adorable little lady every time I see her.
ReplyDeletehermosa tu niña,que linda sonrisa tiene,me encanta tu blog, saludos de México...
ReplyDeleteDo you have any suggestions for how to organize digital pictures on the computer or what name them...to make them easier to find when I want a specific one. Or the best way to go back and scrapbook the first 3 years of my 3 yr olds life? I am trying to break into scrapbooking and I just don't know where to start... with the pictures. So many pictures...how to choose? I saw your studio 5 spot and I liked the idea of just picking a few to scrapbook and then put the rest in clear photo pages-I liked that...
ReplyDeleteon a completely separate note - did you hear about domino!?? SO SAD!

Oh the paint color came out great! Leave it to me to notice that paint first. Avery is so cute. Wouldn't any kid love to get into a jar of colorful buttons?
ReplyDeleteI finally decided to separate all mine into jars by color family so I actually had my kids sort them for me...it's great when they can do all the tedious work for you!
omg, how adorable!! =)
ReplyDeleteHave I told you (yes, I do believe I have, more than once) that you're my FAVORITE blogger! Not just the scrappin' stuff - ALL of it. You're so fun! Anyway, I am loving the peek @ your crop desk - so share more & soon!
