"I'm painting!"

How are the girls adjusting? You might ask. They are absolutely smitten by their baby sister. They come running whenever they hear her crying to see what's wrong and Avery always knows the solution. "She needs milk. She needs a cookie. She needs her blankey."

Some moments I have a slight feeling of empowerment and think, "Hey, I can handle this whole 3 kids thing."
Then other moments it is pure madness. Madness I tell you.
One particular morning, while I was feeding Lola, Quincey was being much too quiet--which is never a good sign. Then the next thing I hear, "Ta-da!"
"What are you doing missy?"
"I'm painting." (She was so proud of herself.)
I grabbed my camera and captured my favorite cream blush being destroyed and held back laughter so she didn't think it was okay.
But then again taking pictures probably gave her the wrong idea anyways. Such a silly, little stinker.

PS I am so in love with this baby!
PPS Check out my Dear Lizzy Christmas card kit!!

  1. It is always so scary when they are "too quiet." My two littles are partners in crime. One time they were "too quiet" and I caught them painting one side of the dark plum couch with a tube of Desitin. No, that stuff doesn't come off real well. Enjoy!

  2. Tee hehe...oh the pure madness of those days with three wee ones myself! I had two littles "paint" themselves with sharpies. Fun times for sure!! :)

  3. That kind of quiet is never a good thing! Our No. 2 is on the way and I'm already so worried about how my first is going to take it. She's such a Mama's girl and still wants to be held a lot (she's almost 3) so I'm afraid she'll have a tough time with it. I don't know how you'll do it with 3! (I'll probably cry and beg my husband not to leave when he has to go back to work)

  4. That is so funny! I was just thinking about how my 9 year old went through a phase of digging through everyone's purses. Whenever she was quiet I'd find her smearing expensive lotion or lipstick or spraying perfume. It is always the expensive stuff...

I also can totally relate to being tethered to a baby and needing to see what's going on with the other two. My Whitney also had the answer for my littlest's cries. One morning she got his bottle and started to pour cows milk in it! I had to explain that he only got mama's milk. Oh and she also stuck a sucker in his mouth in the backseat. He had a blue tongue and a big smile. They just want the babies to have all the good stuff they love too :)

so funny. soak that sweet baby up! I love the cocoon phase :)

  5. Great attitude.

3 months ago my Avery and I had a dinner time struggle. I wanted her to eat, she was refusing.

    You know the drill.

Today we are getting new carpet. Last night during the excavation process which must take place prior to carpet, I found THAT dinner. In a pertrified form. Under the bed. Like a fossil.

Our lives would be so boring without these little moments, do you agree?

  12. So funny. And the picture-taking probably did give her the wrong idea so hide the rest of your blushes! But, worth it. That's a moment.

  13. Ha, Ha, ... Quincey is so cute, I love those chubby cheeks! A couple of weeks ago my second youngest had one of those too quiet moments while I was feeding the baby. She too came into the room with a Ta Da! To my horror I saw that she had cut her hair! Of course I got some pictures and put them on my blog. I must say she looks super cute with bangs and shorter hair. :)

  16. Your blog is beautiful. I am not a scrapbooker...I just check out your blog from time to time for the photos and just how pretty it is overall. You inspire me. Thanks. :-)

And, many, many congratulations on Lola!

  17. Hahaha!!

This is one of my favorite things about blogging. It keeps you sane, and grabbing the camera in moments like this, rather than freaking out.

Plus you have it all documented. Instant scrapbook.

  18. OH, no! Not your MAC cream blush!! I've lost many MAC lipsticks to my 2 year old girl. But then I have an excuse to buy more =). I'm wondering what Photoshop action(s) you are using on your photos lately? Love them!

  19. How stinkin' cute are those pictures!!! So funny to come upstairs to the computer and see these pics, just a few minutes earlier my little guy almost drew an "apple tree" on my couch with a pink sharpie...

  23. We had one of those "ta-da" moments.. My oldest girl, then 3 1/2, was giving her younger sister, 2 1/2 a "Peanut butter make over" How you ask? By smearing it all her face, hair, body, clothes.. it was so cute and she came running in the room to tell me "Carly gave me a peanut butter make over" Priceless..Those days go by way too fast.. Enjoy them and take a LOT of pictures and videos. Congrats on the new baby too.

  24. Ooh, had the same experience last Christmas when my girls used my brandnew makeup set that I just got as a gift. They painted themselves and used the whole stuff while I was cooking. :O
It must be hard to have 3 girls to take care of, wish you lot of energy and patience.
And let me congratulate on your new princess, followed your news here, just couldn't find the time for comments. :)

    Have a nice day!

  25. One of my girls did the same thing with one of those little tiny Avon sample lipsticks. I had the same reaction, grabbed my camera and snapped away. What else was there to do?

  30. I think my mom has a picture of me with her mascara all over my face...while wearing her nightgown and a red tie. So daring at such a young age.

Congrats to you and thank you for providing such wonderful creative inspiration!

  31. oh gosh that is just too cute! love those girlies....when mine get too quiet a tornado folllows. my girls were too quiet and i looked up from the catolouge i was reading and there they stands, smearing crayon over the screen of my macbook.

  32. LOL, my kids have painted themselves many times. Both my daughters also had a thing for baby powder too.
Glad to hear things are going well with your new little one :)

  33. It's very good if the 'only' thing ruined was your MAC compact ;). I know, that's bad enough! You have to think about all the bedding, upholstery, curtains , etc. that were 'spared' and not nearly as photogenic as your adorable daughter! My nephew peeled nearly a drawer-front of veneer from an antique dresser.....

  34. Love this post and the pictures! At least it is a good shade of blush that she put on! TFS!

  35. How do you like their cream blush? I've been tempted to buy it, but I'm deathly afraid of cream blushes (I have oily skin). Sometimes kids are a bit naughty, but those pictures are sometimes the best, and well it's fun to document when they are doing things they're not supposed to.. when it makes you laugh on the inside. My daughter was in the kitchen (being extra quiet), and I found her sticking her hands in her Daddy's birthday cake, and eating it. She was wearing her new pink coat too, so that made it even worse :) but it sure made for cute pictures!

  36. HeHe. She is so stinkin adorable!!! I just want to eat her up!! I had hoped they had been at Spark if but only for a few moments so I could have given both of them big hugs! hugs from Conroe, TX!
