Triathlon: Swim, Bike, Freeze

What better to do at 7:00am on a Saturday morning when it's 35 degrees outside than go for a swim, bike and run? They don't call it the "Icebreaker Triathlon" for nuthin.

Check out these blueberry studmuffins! Collin and his older brother...I mean dad, Kelly, pause for a quick photo op before the race. Kelly is the one who got Collin to train with him, so I have him to thank for exchanging the keg for a six-pack.

All smiles going into the run. They reversed the order so people wouldn't turn into icicles riding their biking with wet swimsuits on.
Tour de American Fork?....(crickets)
Thank heavens the swim was indoors. Collin was on swim team since he was 7, so this part was e-z. He flew past everyone!
"I'm smiling cause I'm not dead."-Collin
I was so proud of my hubby! His first triathlon and he finished 87th out of over 400 people, or as he puts it, a "B- in teacher terms." Next stop, Coldstone.

You can email me at kitkassbar@yahoo.com or leave it in the comments. (ignore this if you have already left yours,it's hard for me to remember)

Wow! I am impressed. Collin should be proud of himself. Also, my SIL and I played the YouTube video of Collin's karaoke. We enjoyed it so much and both said we wish our hubbies had half of his spunk. He's a keeper!

Hi Tracy,
Dad did awesome! Despite the fact that he was still recovering from a surgery a little bit ago.

He runs and bikes that much all the time!

OK Two things..... (I've only posted once before on your blog, girl names post. But I had to repsond to this one!) First, I cannot believe that is your husband's father. Talk about some good genes (did I spell that right? LOL) He looks amazing! Second kudos to your hubby for accomplishing that. That truly is incredible and he placed so well too.

Spandex is very flattering Collin... In the great words of Comic Book Guy: "hubba-hubba"...
Is your dad for hire to help me get rid of my 6 week post-partum "Jabba the Hut-Gut"?

Love the quote...I am smiling cuz I'm not dead. LOL
The older I get...the harder things like 10 Ks and bike races sound! :)

Yep, we're proud of those Kartchner men!

It takes a lot of a certain kind of discipline to make yourself go do something hard like that! It felt stressed and tired out just from shivering for the morning watching and rooting!
