a mini for mini-me
a few of the pages...
If you read this blog then you know that I love my Bind-it-All and I love fabric! So, while my girls were cuddled up taking naps I had a brilliant idea--instead of finishing the crib bumper, or tackling the work that was piled up on my desk, or trying to sneak some sleep in myself, I made this super simple mini. 'Simple' meaning it took me hardly any time at all so I couldn't be too hard on myself for procrastinating. :)
First, I cut some thick cardstock into 4X4 squares covered each with fabric and sewed around the edges. Then, I added some of my favorite photos, some letter stickers, and a couple flowers. Sometimes it's tough to keep it simple but I rose above the impulse to add more embellies! Remembering what the all-knowing Ali Edwards said in her August article of CK- focus on the photos + words when designing mini albums, so that's what i did! Lastly, I easily punched through each page and bound it together! Voila! I wanted it to have a vintage feel and I love the frayed edges the BIA left.
Now about that nap? Yeah, right. :)
*Edited: Use some sort of liquid glue to adhere the pics, I use Diamond Glaze. Also use pinking shears to cut the fabric. They're special scissors that leave a zing zag edge and keep the fabric from fraying too much.

As always you share something unique and fun.
That is so FREAKIN cute!! I love the fabric, the colors, the concept, overall such a great project!! Such a beautiful album you made. It just makes me happy!!
LIZZY!!!
So fabulous! I too share a love affair with my Bind-It-All. And you use it so well. I would not have thought to try it on fabric.
Thanks for the inspiration Chika!!!
Okay... I know I want to purchase the bind-it-all... but I have a question.
Do you have special scissors that will cut fabric into the zig zag shape? Or are they just regular scrapbooking deco scissors? Because I'm fairly confident my deco-scissors will NOT cut fabric!
How did you get the pictures to stick? scrap glue of some sort?
that is waaaay too cute!
Everything you do is sooo pretty!
I love it! The simplicity of it makes it even more cute! I can't believe you still have time to be creative... you're amazing!
How'd you get the pictures, letters, and flower to stick?
Also- silly question, what's your favorite adhesive for scrapbooking/crafts? And what's your favorite marker/pen for scrapbook journaling?
Super cute! If I had 1/2 the creativity you do, I would be...well... pretty creative. ;-)
I am adding the bind-it-all to my wish list (along with getting my 1970s sewing machine fixed, and learning to use it--HA!)
Glad to see you are finding time to do things just for you that you enjoy!!
Always a pleasure reading the blog!
What a pretty little project! I love all of the pinks. So cute!
Hey Liz! Congrats on the new baby, she is beautiful. I think she looks like a Kartchner for sure.
Your mini book is really cute, love it. What kind of adhesive did you use to adhere the pictures to the fabric? Thanks!
Tell Collin hi from Katie!

very cute! love the fabric too! I have had it for a while...just waiting for the perfect project!
I just got my own BIA and I can't wait to try a project like this about my little girl! OK, question, what do you use to get the stickers and photos to stay on the fabric?
This is just so cute.. and it seems simple to do also, now maybe I'll do one using pattern paper instead as I don't have a good sewing machine.
Thanks for sharing, I love it.
you never stop girl!!! super cute mini ; )
Love, love, love it! Congratulations on the birth of Baby Quincey--she is beautiful! Loving the whole fabric thing. Thanks for the inspiration. . . again. I'm feeling a weekend project coming on. . .
Adorable and a very productive use of your time. The fabric reminds me of fabric designed by Sandi Henderson.

love it girl! where do you get most of your fabric? Have you gotten any from Ikea yet? they have gorgeous patterns.
Liz this album is beautiful!!! Glad to see you still have some you time to create between all the mom duties!!! Wondeful Wonderful as always!!! :]
That is so dang cute (and so is the baby!). Now this makes me want to use fabric. One question: Did you use any adhesive to attach the fabric to the cardstock? And did you sew on the cardstock or only on the fabric up to the edge of the cardstock? Ok sorry that was 2 questions...
Love it..
Trina

Question for you....You always seem to do an excellent job of photographing your projects (e.g., this mini album, 'delicious die-cutting', etc. What are your tips for the rest of us who may want to photograph and post our own projects?
Thanks in advance....

OH i love it! I just learned to sew so I have a new found fabric addiction :) I never thought there'd be anything worse than my patterned paper addiction but I just may have found it!
Is that what pinking shears are for??? So the ends don't fray? I always wondered what they were for LOL

I get so inspired by your work... I love it... Also, can you tell me how you used all available space on your blog page (widening the text space and tightening the margins)??? Also is it too late to send my address for the summer shades???
I forgot to add that I love that you left the color #s WAY cute!
Hi Elizabeth :) THis is so cool! I just got my 1st sewing machine this week, had my g'ma here to visit and show me how to set it up..only she doesn't really know how to sew much LOL(matter of fact, i blogged about it)- anyways, i got it mainly to use on my LO's but i really want to dabble alittle in the fabric creations...if i can figure it out- i mean its not rocket science, RIGHT? ;0) My question is, where are you getting your fabric(besides the obvious-i only have a joann's here)?? Ps- i just purchused a BIA - can't wait to use it!
What a FABULOUS little album!
GREAT JOB!!!
Now I know I need a Bind It All, this super cute mini is a sign:) Really, it is very cute & I can't wait to experiment with fabric! Thanks so much!!
This mini fabric album is just soooo gorgeous. How do you make the time to do it all with a newborn. The fabrics are so divine. Anna
Nice work, Liz! I love that you used the Ginger Blossom fabric, that should match a couple things in your house, huh? Keep it real! Laci

Have you ever used this site... They have the best Photoshop brushes free!!!
http://myphotoshopbrushes.com
another great site for you!!!
Love the book!! Absolutely adorable! I had a question about the Bind It All. What items did you purchase? There are so many accessories, tool kits, etc. and I haven't been sure about what I actually need to purchase. Thanks!
I was so inspired by this cute mini album, I had to go out and buy my very own sewing machine. Now I just need to figure out how it works. :)
An idea to make this quick book even easier...most quilt shops sell "Charm Packs" which are bundles of precut 5-inch squares, all from the same line of fabric so they all coordinate--and the edges are already pinked. I'm planning on trying this project very soon! Thanks for all the great ideas...
Love this mini book!!!
excellent !! i love this album and i just bought the bind it all !!
