hey ya'll

Hello from Georgia! Hanging with Gretchen, Lucy & Brittney, working on my southern drawl (it's getting pretty good;) & about to hit the sack so i'll be ready to teach some fun classes in the morning but first...

Scarlet Lime has done it again with another awesome kit! Their cheerful papers, if you listen closely, I swear are singing springy songs. They compel me to scrapbook fun photos of an afternoon picnic or day at the park. The papers and rubons are exclusive-meaning they were designed for Scarlet Lime so that’s the only place you can get your cute, little hands on them.
Here are a couple pages that I made using the kit. I stayed up way past my bedtime last night, procrastinating packing for my trip even more, because I was excited to put something together.

My favorite are the colors in the kit. Love the red/green and yellow color scheme & the blue/yellow and greens-they look so harmonious together.

Since i'm always of fan of the color Christy coordinates for Scarlet Lime's kits each month i know i would love to take her class-- Eye For Design [color creative}, - it’s the first class in a series of classes she will be doing for Got Crafts. Check it out!!

It’s never fun to enjoy something by yourself-- so giveaway time! If you want to win Christy's Eye For Design [color creative}, or the May Scarlet Lime kit leave a comment with what pictures you would scrapbook with this vibrant kit! :)

Snippets

Random snippets of a Wednesday morning. You can get a lot done when the kiddos wake up at the crack of dawn.

Teaching this class on Friday at Scrap Etc event in Georgia.

Watching this cutie strut her stuff 10 steps at a time.

Laughing at this girl's lingo. Right now she says, "Mmmm, that smells gooooood" to everything-especially things that smell... not-so-good. Makes for a good laugh.
Wearing this watch made by Christy... how did she know my birthday was next week and I wanted a cute ticker...?

Baking these extra crispy cookies. If anyone likes overcooked chocolate chip cookies I can bring this batch right over because I like them soft and gooey.

Happy day!

just dandy

One of my favorite quotes this week:
Collin: (thoughtfully looking out the window) "So glad I planted all those dandelion seeds in the front yard."
Maybe you just had to be there, but it was funny at the moment. I'm glad Collin can make a joke out of it since he takes much pride in the state of our yard. The greener the prouder. ;)
I think I'm just slap happy about Spring. Happy Friday!

2 years

Two years ago from today I was bored while Collin was watching baseball & started this little blogaroo. So, I figured since I take any excuse for eating cupcakes & giving away fun stuff this is a great day to do it. Happy 2 year blogiversary from 'just us!'

Now to celebrate I'm going to eat this yummy cupcake don't be jealous because you get something even better! My friend Erin from Designer Blogs is giving away 3 blog makeovers. Erin is married to Mikey. Collin, Mikey and I were chums in high school and still get together for Utah Jazz games every so often (go easy on us tomorrow Lakers!) Erin is so talented at designing blogs & for the month of April all your blog styling needs are 15% off... check out her website here.

Now back to the celebration... Leave a comment with your name & your favorite thing about blogs to win 1 of the 3 blog styling packages. yay! If you don't have a blog this is a great excuse to start one.

no more monkeys

... jumping on the bed. I hope Avery doesn't catch a glimpse of this photo because I'm not being the best example. Kelly was right when she said on her blog that we got some fun exercise getting the timing of our jumps just right. It was cool to meet Kelly in real life, order room service and watch makeover shows on TLC a late night after ckc. Well, late being 10pm. ha!
Stay tuned for a fun giveaway & blogiversary or should I say blirthday. :)

i like to make stuff

I am slowing awakening my inner Dina Wakley and playing with spray inks. I'm not ashamed to admit that at first I was a bit intimidated, but now I love it.
I was a guest blogger over at Creating Keepsakes blog and shared one of my favorite techniques for using Tattered Angel's Glimmer Mist & Glimmer Screens to add a pop of color & create your own unique background paper.

The pictures are of me working on Quincey's quilt and her crib bumper (I never did finish the crib bumper project. Sandi, don't be disappointed in me ;) b/c I still have big plans for your fabulous fabric.

Studio Calico yellow paper; Glimmer Mist, Glimmer Screens (stencil); American Crafts paper, letters, sewing machine rubon, dress form chipboard sticker

~~ah, it feels so great to be home.

tweet tweet

A blurry photo makes sense at the moment since I have been running around like crazy the last couple days... or I should say months.
I was knee deep in snow** and class kits yesterday so I am excited to head off to sunshine and palm trees. :)
PS I am officially a twit or I've just tweeted or whatever you want to call it... Twitter is fun and I will be updating from CKC Mesa.

What is twitter?
A social networking site that deals with status updates. Instead of friends like facebook you have "followers" and you can follow people as well.
It looks like this:

K & randomness

It's one of those cozy, rainy days... I love these kind of days. Avery's got the right idea, it's perfect for reading. This Thursday I'll have time on a flight to Arizona where I'll teach at the Creating Keepsakes convention to start a good book from your suggestions. :) It will keep my mind off missing my girlies. (We won't talk about that right now.)

A couple weeks ago I decided that I was tired of walking into our family/tv room and seeing the back of this sectional. So I moved everything by myself... yeah not the smartest idea. Then after I moved the tv I was sick of the blank wall-- I got some ideas from a fabulous blog SanFran Girl by Bay & started hanging up random things. The good thing is that I used this awesome hanging sticky stuff from my sister (I think it's by 3M) that doesn't take the paint off for all the K's that way I don't feel bad when I have to move them. It's great for people who frequently change their mind, like me.
-I would love to cut out their silhouettes every year to see how they change. Quincey has the cutest baby profile that I've ever seen. Need a bigger frame for Avery's silhouette but like I said I just grabbed stuff that was in storage etc.
-Collected Ks from random places covered a couple with Vintage Yummy paper.
-Pictures of Collin with Avery and Quincey & me dancing with my daddy.
-Painted chalkboard paint on the glass of one of the frames to write messages, hang polaroids & a cute calendar.
I dug deep for this post after getting a few comments and emails asking me about the console in the background of some photos. I found it at D.I., painted it with 'Lagoon' by Sherwin Williams then distressed it and added some hardware. Love restoring old things.

Look at little Avery. :)

bits & pieces

She went. She hunted. She conquered.

After I shared my tricks for exceptional egg-hunting on Saturday, by today she was a pro (and a very cute professional egg hunter I must add;)

Some photos from an eventful weekend that although started out quite chilly it ended with sunshine and lots of smiles.

Next stop... Easter Bunny? Nope. We played at the Farm Country of Thanksgiving Point and Avery was in heaven. That face expression says it all.

It was a blast to spend time with family & remember the One who gave His all for us.

I hope you had a Happy Easter!

what happened?

It's always a treat to download the pictures from my camera after Collin has been home with the kiddos. This morning I found this photo. Apparently Avery got into something and there wasn't a trace of her mess when I got home but evidence on the camera. haha. I'll have to find out more details of what happened. :)
PS The silicon cupcake cups are by Wilton and I'm pretty sure I got them at Target. Happy snacking.

springy snacks

In case you didn't know, we are snackers... we love to eat All. Day. Long. :) So when I first saw the idea of using a muffin tin to fill with snacks for the day I knew that's just what we needed to keep this little squirrel happy.

Instead of a muffin tin the silicon cupcake cups worked perfect along with a cute Cram Cream tray. Yes, you will find me digging in too.

Another page using the Scarlet Lime kit that I showed a peek of last week but now you get to see the whole enchilada.
I love the new line from Sassafras called "vintage yummy" that's where you find the cute dear paper.
I missed Idol last night. Who did awesome? Kris was my favorite last week! Happy Wednesday!

Create

Hello bloggies,
I feel so inspired today:
the sun is out (yay!), the weekend was uplifting, the kiddos are playing happily (for the time being),
the music is up, the house is clean (for the time being). Ah, heavenly...

One of my favorite things about this blog is connecting with women all over world who share the same desire to create.
It actually inspired me to design a scrapbook page about it. Possibly the first page where I ignored the urgency to document a memory with specific photos but rather quotes from this talk I shared last year that I love.

(Page inspired by Robyn Werlich) Supply list: American Crafts (yellow dot, scalloped edge); Scenic Route (red dot); KI Memories: Epoxy Stickers; Background paper; font: little days (dafont.com); Butterfly punch: Martha Stewart. Love this color scheme: Tan, red, yellow, seafoam green.

The talk was also made into a short video, I've watched it countless times since my sister shared it with me a couple weeks ago. Love this message...

(Pause the music in the sidebar-sorry to make you work for the video.) ☺

lovin' Scarlet Lime

It was like Christmas morning (minus the snow, thank goodness) when I ripped open my package from Scarlet Lime (& I was on the naughty list!)
Talk about happy mail!

I've admired Christy, the owner of Scarlet Lime, for years!! So, it is no surprise that she is the mastermind behind the perfectly combined kit of goodness-colorful paper & sweet accents! I had a blast putting some pages together for her... & she made my day or rather my week with this cute write up about me over at her site. Read it here.

GIVEAWAY time!! Want to get your creative hands on Scarlet Lime's Project kit?! These babies sell out faster than Diet Coke at a Scrapbook Convention.

This isn't an April Fools joke... :) Leave me a comment with your favorite part about Spring!
