confessions of a mom

Some days I stay in my pjs til the afternoon
Some days Avery really likes to test my patience
Some days when Collin gets home I go on a drive singing (off tune;) at the top of my lungs-it clears my mind
Some days I wish the laundry would fold itself
Everyday we ROTFL at Avery being silly
Everyday we dance in the kitchen
Everyday I can't get enough of Quincey's kissable cheeks
Everyday we sing "the wheels on the bus" over & over & over & over
Everyday I look at Q&A and am grateful that I'm a mommy

Everyday I marvel at the fact that although there are challenges of Mommahood-it is always more rewarding in the end!!

For no particular reason-except that it's just fun! :) I have a couple giveaways!!

First, Baby Cakes wants to giveaway a fabulous mom agenda desktop calendar! It helps you organize your time in weekly & monthly format & up to 4 kiddos. It comes in some other cool colors too!

Also, for those of you that don't have kiddos I have an awesome resource from CK titled "Month by Month Scrapbooking" by Amanda Probst that helps you scrapbook those holiday & seasonal topics through out the year. Plus some goodies! :)

Leave a comment with one of your {mom, woman, scrapbooker, wife, sister, friend}
confessions. :)

The above page is one of my faves from Quincey's birth day! :) It is from my Creating Keepsakes article, Dear Lizzy.

Sometimes I wish my son would never grow bigger, but then I think about all the things he would miss, and the things I want for him! I just love all the little stages he goes through! He's about the same age as Avery, and I love seeing the world through his eyes!!!

I confess that sometimes I think I like my kids toys more than they do...especially my 2 going on 3 LO's dollhouse, and my 7 year old's High School Musical Sing It game! They have some COOL toys!! :-)
I also crank up the tunes any time I manage to get out by myself and belt out the songs at the top of my lungs and dance along in the car!

Ok I confess that sometimes when my boys call something by the wrong name I don't correct them because their version is just too cute! Also after 9 1/2 years together I still get that butterflies in my stomach feeling when it's time for my husband to come home from work.

Some days I stay in the bathroom far longer than necessary, just sitting & thinking, because it's usually my only opportunity to do so all day long!

Since becoming a Mom in December I have to confess that one of the best times of the day is when I get to take a shower! It totally refreshes me and I am ready to give the baby 110% of myself afterwards.

i confess that on days that we don't have preschool, everyone piles in my bed and plays and watches cartoons and just hangs out until its almost time for lunch. it is just too much fun and one day they will have to go to school every day and we will miss these times.

when we go to costco we always get a smoothie. when we went with my husband this weekend he was so impressed/surprised that our all most 2 year old liked it, and asked for it by name, and drank more than half of it. i just smiled.

I confess that on some days I feel that time is going by to slow..because the daily job of raising my 6 kids is very hard...and then some days I confess that I am running out of time to teach them everything they need to know to live a productive and Godly life. I wonder if it will all ever make sense? SO I guess I confess that I don't know everything...just don't tell my kids that!

Some days I could just cry at the fact that I have lost every battle imaginable to my two year old son, from getting dressed to brushing his teeth, to cramming his little toesies into his winter boots. Those are the nights though that I end up cross legged on the floor by his bed just gazing at his precious, sleeping face and can't imagine what I did before him.

I am the mom of a teenager and i so miss the hugs of a 4 year old, the sweet voice of a 6 year old and trips to the zoo and the park and parades. they grow up so fast but you get to do cool stuff then like teaching them to drive, staying up until they come home (at curfew), worrying they will have a date to the dance, worrying about their choice of date to the dance, etc. i miss my sweet little boy but i am proud of my almost adult teen!

I don't have any munchkins but I have a boy, who is kinda like having a munchkin ; ) and sometimes while we are knapping on Sunday afternoon I take my camera and snap a picture of him sleeping. I love the look on his face, so peaceful and happy.

some days, my heart smiles when my son gets a lil' scrape on his knee. He's always so busy playing and having fun - it's only these times that he'll stop to come over to me to make it all better with lots of hugs and kisses.

Well, I hate to confess that I have tons of mommy confessions!!! I share a lot of yours. And then, let's see...

Some days I make pancakes for dinner.
Sometimes I lock myself in the bathroom just to get away.
Sometimes at night I go in one of my kids' rooms and lie in bed with them just listening to them breathe.
And then there's the times when we turn up the music on the radio *really* loud and dance super silly!!

Unknown said...

When my 3-year-old wakes up at 6:30 AM, I ignore the fact that he went to the bathroom and didn't flush or wash his hands, because I don't want to get up.
I also let him make his own breakfast for the same reason.

This isn't anything FUN that I am about to say but I'll share it. Sometimes and this is more nights then often, I lay next to my son and watch him sleep. I won't sleep the entire night but I'll just watch him to make sure that his precious little heart never misses a beat while he is asleep. He almost died at birth and now even at 5 years old, I just fear for reliving that. He is the biggest part of my soul and I'll miss sleep for the rest of my life just to be there to look over him.

Well, it was nice to read the list of things and it really cheered me up. I love being a mom and today I needed to reminded to be so greatful. I am currently home from work for a week. I found out on Saturday when I went to the emergency room with side pain, that I was unexpectedly pregnant again (very surprising since I am still nursing my 11 month old). Well, as it turns out it was a tubal pregnancy so I am recovering from surgery and from the roller coaster of emotions that I am going through. It was nice to see your blog and be reminded about the exciting things of being a mom to my two beautiful girls while I am greiving the loss of a third we didn't know we were having or aure if we were ready for at this time. Anyway not really the post you wanted but it is nice to have a safe place to express my feeling to another mom! Please put me in your drawing for the awesome prizes.

Well.....not much of a confession, but it seems that no matter what age my children are....I love who they are. When they were "little", toddlers I loved that age. Elementary school, loved that age. now almost 13 and 14, I now love this age. I guess I just love being a parent.

I am sad to say that way too often I am a "Crabby Mommy"...I don't mean it and I really love being a stay at home mom but all too often I find myself fussing about the messes made and all the chores I have to do and I eventually regret my crabbiness and wish that I could be a Snow White kind of Mommy... whistling while I work instead of getting crabby because there isn't enough me time in a week! Sorry kiddos...I love you lots anyway!

My most favorite sound in the whole world is the sound of my two boys giggling and laughing. Yesterday I snuggled on the couch with my 5 year old while he used the remote to rewind and watch over and over and over a scene from Ratatouille where a rat spits out grapes and hits the chef in the neck with them. He laughed and giggled uncontrollably and I was laughing so hard just listening to him. It was so much fun just to snuggle and giggle til our sides hurt. I LOVE motherhood!

I confess...that summer is my least favorite time of the year. Not only because of the heat and humidity (which IS unbearable at times!) but also because my kids are home ALL day and I can't go anywhere by myself.
Having said that...I wouldn't trade my time with them for anything. I grew up a latchkey child, and I love the fact that we are financially stable enough that I'm ABLE to stay at home during the summers with them!

Thanks for the chance at the giveaway - I love scrappy goodies! (Do you know that I got more scrapping done this past summer than usual? It's because my kids have started realizing that I need some alone time at home.) :)

Honest to goodness - what mom doesn't have jammie days? I encourage them. My confession... oh vey... Our local starbucks are in Target and then like 2 blocks away from Target, which happen to be roughly a quarter mile from the fire station that my husband works at. He works 48 hours and then has 96 off. Which more often than not he still works overtime on some of those days so I can stay home and raise the bambinos. Anyway, I "find" reasons we can go see daddy at the fire house and since I just so happen to be driving by there, I treat myself to some hot chocolate from Starbucks - a necessary evil I do say, on the way there. Then at Target, I reward myself for shopping with 2 kids with...hot chocolate and organic vanilla milk for the curly haired monster and my brown eyed heartbreaker. I suppose it could be worse - like the fact I totally let my 3 year old wear his pajamas to church simply because he told me it didn't matter to Jesus if he was in jamas or pretty clothes - just that he was there. For me, it was a pick your battles moment and we had 5 minutes before we had to be out the door. I wonder if they'd mind if I came in my pajamas?

Kelly said...

This is not exactly a confession, I could have a lot more money for the down payment on my first house if I didn't buy clothes or scrapbook supplies. But then what fun would having a house be if I couldn't make a cute scrapbook of it? right?

My mommy confession is that I truly LOVE nap time. Most days I ecstatically take them upstairs, and as soon as their doors close I do a happy little dance and try to cram as much (or as little) as I want.

I really do love my boyfriends snoring, even though I don't tell him that.
It's that white noise, knowing that he's right there next to me.

Often when Daddy goes to work, we will just stay in our PJ's for the day. My son loves to have a "jammie day". It's hard sometimes when I have to bring him to preschool, he puts up a fight and wants to have a "jammie day". I guess thats what I get for starting the tradition.

somedays I put myself in a timeout to get a 5 minute break in the laundry room, with the door closed.. No one likes to go in there, so it is a safe place in my house :)

On the days when my kids don't take naps I really wish they would...but sometimes when all 3 are sleeping simultaneously, I miss them and wish they would wake up! Just one of those cruel tricks of motherhood that doesn't make any sense at all!

I hate homework! I already did mine - why do I have to help my son with his?!

well....confession: I almost never watch tv. Ever. I have no time. 5 kids=tired by bedtime. But in the afternoon when my lil 4 yr old (5 tomorrow!) wants to "watch a lil' show" with her lunch... I tell her only if we watch Barefoot Contessa & a snuggle. I LOVE her show & don't give myself the time, but figure if I also snuggle her, then it's not just me time... Funny part is, now my little sweetie knows if I say no tv, she suggests "the brown hair girl" (Ina Garten) and know she'll probably sway me!

Sometimes I dance very silly in front of the kids just to make them laugh! I love to see them laugh, it totally makes my day!

I confess that I have my 4 year old "trained" to throw some toys in his sisters crib and then play quitely with his toys (they share a room) when they wake up at 6 am (!!) on the weekend so I can sleep just a little bit longer :)

My mum keeps telling me does it really matter if the kids occasionally have toast for dinner!!! I had 3 under 4 & would never have a nap during the day (even though I was surviving on 5 per night), I confess now to dropping off during the day while my youngest sleeps to get that little energy boost to get me through the rest of the day. Thanks for your awesome blog & honesty.

I confess, I love the smell of my 3 year old's 'ba-ba' (security blanket) after she wakes up in the morning. Thanks for the chance to share!

I confess 1. That I am a terrible houskeeper 2. That when I am feeding my baby girl I sit at the computer and am so into all of my scrapbook finds that the bottle often slips from her mouth and 3. I often buy pizza rolls and secretly eat them and hide the evidence from my husband...hehe.

I confess that somedays I am a good mommy and leave the house to clean itself while I play with my kids.
I also confess that somedays bedtime (blogtime for me) cannot come soon enough, eventhough I know in the morning they will be older and one day I will be sad I wanted to get them in bed so quickly (like 4pm j/k). :)

Some days after the older kids leave for school, my baby and I crawl back in bed for cuddles, cartoons, and cereal. I love it, but I think the 6 yr. old might be onto us. She keeps trying to stay home, she wants to stay in Mommy's bed ALL day. (Thanks, I think you just gave me an new idea for a scrapbook page!)

I confess that I often cry watching movies with babies in it because I so want to be a mother, but can't. It hurts something awful that I can't be a mother to watch my own children grow up. The love that you show to your children is so amazing.

Confessions of a 25 year old married teacher with no children.

1. I created this note in my head while I vacuumed and mopped today.
2. I am a very poor speller!
3. I am a teacher, retired for the current school year.
4. I hate ironing! I will do any other household chore before I iron.
5. I am easily persuaded to eat junk food. The mere mention of the word 'popcorn' means I must have some.
6. I love the Lord, and though I sin, I strive to be more like Him each day!
7. I have a pet fish named Survivor. He is named this because he lasted longer than 4 days. The first fish I brought back to the store because it was garaunteed for 14 days.
8. I love to fly. If I had lots of money, I would fly back and forth to different cities just to be there for the day.
9. I love taking pictures!! I take lots!
10. My favourite part of my body is the upper half of my left ear.

I sometimes wear my pj's to take my 7 yr. old to school because I'm not getting out of the car, and I still take naps when my 2 1/2 yr. old takes naps and sometimes I can't wait till both girls are in school so I will have more time to craft. Then I will wish I had them back to keep me company. I love my girls and would not change my life for anything.

Some days I don't do any household chores, instead I play on the computer or scrapbook until about an hour before my husband gets home and then I run through the house cleaning up after the kids so it looks like I worked really hard all day. Oh there are so many confessions I could make! ;) But I will stick to... sometimes, when the kids are running crazy - I will slip on the fav movie 'Cars' or 'WallE' and snuggle up on the couch with them... just so I can take a nap and know they are right there.

OH! And now that those ah-ma-zing cadbury chocolate eggs in the purple bag are out - I have started my stash for the rest of the year!!! no one knows where they are but me! Oh how the scrapbook nook is a great place to hide things!!!

I would really love that month by month kit!!! ;)
