Made a video for my wife...(hijacked by Collin)

Hello people of Bloggertonville,

It's me Collin. Most of you know me as "that guy with the slanted chin" or 'Ricky the extra' from the well-known documentary "Andre the Giant: We Barely Knew Thee".

Well, we had a fire-sale of all our old camera gear and upgraded to a Canon 5D Mark Deaux from our Hasidic Jewish friends at B&H Photo in the City of York but Newer. As some of you know I shoot photos for phun and most the pics on this here blog are snapped by moi. I'm like a fat guy at a lunch buffet concealing his enthusiasm by saying, "Let's see what we have here" about the fact that the new camera shoots 1080P high-def with 1.21 jiggawatts of power running a 6.7L 454-small block to the rotary gurter, i.e, it's frickin awesome!

I made my first video with it this month. It's kind of a story of my wife. And kids. I thought I'd share it. Shot up the canyon behind our house with a 35mm 1.4 lens and a home-made stabilizer (still a bit shaky but cool effect). Edited in plain old iMovie in a couple hours. If any of you local Utahns would like a similar family video, let me know. I'd trade 1000 photos for a 5 minute heart-warming video. Email me if you're interested.

Liz means everything to me. She's an incredible mother. A deep and special person. I wanted to capture a piece of that.

Enjoy....

LOL

That was so incredibly sweet! Which canyon did you go and where did you stop?

Wen said...

Wow what a sweet thing to do, you are 1 in a million & all your Girls are very lucky to have you.

Collin said...

Your kind words warm my heart like a Toaster Strudel.

@Marci we went up American Fork Canyon, head up towards Tibble Fork resevoir and keep going about a quarter mile until you hit the dead-end. Then turn left at that one tree, right at that gray rock, and walk towards that one other tree. If you see a sign that says, 'Welcome to Wyoming", turn around.

Such a beautiful tribute. You have inspired me to use the video mode on my camera.

It must be nice to have a sweet location where you don't have to worry about what's lurking in the water. Oh how I miss the north.

Kim Woods said...

ok Collin, you are the best SCRUBBY ever! And the camera totally rocks but your editing is so amazing. I have to teach myself imovie to do my sister's slideshow in less than a month and am shaking in my stilettos! I agree your wife is absolutely stunning and has popped a little since Spark. I say this because she was just so little with her baby bump and I was the size she appears to be now at 20 wks! 5 '1" doesn't allow room for anthing but OUT. Great job, i hope to absorb your knowledge somehow so I can get my slideshow created!

Nancy Wyatt said...

collin you amaze me! I love how funny you are and then how romantic you are too! You truly have one of the most beautiful women I have ever had the honor of meeting! You guys really make my heart happy! If my hubby and I had a family I would hope that it was as happy and sweet as yours is! I am still so tickled that I got to hang out with you at Spark!! Hugs from your ipad carrying friend ;)

Collin- I thought I left a comment yesterday... i guess i didn't. This is jen peterson, shawns sister. I was wondering how much you charge to do this. My good friends mom just found out that she has cancer and will probably only live for a few more weeks. I know that this is something that they would treasure forever! Email me and let me know! Thanx!

What an amazing video of three beautiful, beautiful girls!

Collin response to Jen said...

@Jen Anderson...I'd love to do it for your friend's mom. I don't think I could charge for something like that, email me pixelpopphotography@gmail.com and we'll set it up.

Colin, I was touched by your video & what a beautiful tribute to Lizzy! I love the trees and that video somehow reminded me of Twilight... Lol! You are one amazing guy!!

BCS said...

Colin, That was sweet. Your family is beautiful. My only thoughts (pls don't hate me, Mr. Talented) is that the beginning of the song is a bit eerie (did you mean to do that)? And the woods looked less serene and dark; I expected something scary to run out of there. I'm so not into Twilight and that sort of thing, so, as I read other peoples' comments, maybe that was the feel that you were aiming. I'm sure that your family appreciates your talent.
