my fabric muse & a giveaway!

While I went to grab my camera to share this super cute applique pattern with you, Avery hurried to the kitchen to grab a piece of pizza. With the pizza sauce inches from her fresh, white shirt I snapped a photo! Not only is she fast but she's sneaky too! :) Okay, back to the pattern, I've been wanting to use this pattern on one of Avery's shirts for months and I finally did! I found it at Sandi Henderson's blog. She designed all the fabric in the quilt I made for Quincey, this book, the recycle bag etc etc. She's amazing!
The fabric I used on this tee is Amy Butler (shame on me;) but I can't wait to play with Sandi's new Farmer's Market line. If I could only even attempt to sew the skirts and other beauties she whips out for her girls, but for now I'll stick to using her fabric in my scrapbooks. :)

Also, it makes me happy that Scrap Etc loves my blog readers as much as I do and want to send one of their killer kits to a lucky reader's doorstep!! But the question is what do you have to do to win one? :) How about leave me a comment about something you're anticipating about Fall. While you're thinking click on their blog and check out the awesome examples they've made with it!
I wish I could attend their Wrapper's Delight but I will for sure be at their Spring event! Then I can hang out with my friend Gretchen & she can show me why she loves the South so much!! What are grits anyway? :)

Every fall, I look forward to the following:

-the smell of new crayons, all beautifully lined up in their box (even if I don't really buy crayons for myself anymore...sadness)

-the smell of leaves burning. Where I come from, everyone burns their raked up leaves, and it's something that makes me feel "at home"

-wearing a pair of boots from my massive collection. You can never have too many pairs of boots.

-the beautiful colors of the changing foliage...the purples, the reds, the yellows.

-Halloween! One of my absolute favorite holidays. I just adore giving trick-or-treaters their candy!

-and finally, in two years time, my wedding in October. It's going to be big and Polish and loud and I wouldn't have it any other way :-)

The shirt is adorable! I love seeing what you come up with...it always inspires me to get out and create, create, create!

PS. The kit looks super-fun! Love the colors!

I'm anticipating the soothing chill of the early morning, followed by afternoons where traces of summer heat still warm up the seats of my car. Thats early fall in Georgia for you:) And as the fall days progress, I can't help but wish for the yummy smells of sweet treats and the vibrant colors that wait outside my kitchen window. I just love the refreshment that each new season brings...especially fall!

Fall is my favorite. One of the few things that I look forward to the most is going to my grandma's cabin up in the mountains where it is practically heaven. There I will be tying a quilt outside in the crisp fall air under the yellow leaves of the aspen trees. All while my soul is being uplifted by listening to General Conference on the radio.

Thanks

I'm from Canada, so fall usually means it starts getting cold, which most years depresses me. But Nothing can beat the fall colors (which we are starting to see now *sigh*), and most of all, that wonderful fresh smell in the crisp air. ...When I think of that, it cheers me up and gives me courage for the onset of winter.

What isn't there to love about Fall? It is my favorite season- sweatshirt weather, backyard campfires, mums and pumpkins and Halloween. Our house is the hit of the neighborhood for trick-or-treating because we give out grilled hot dogs and warm apple cider. The crowd gets bigger every year.

I love the smell of wood burning stoves and fireplaces burning, the colors of the leaves, and the cooler/crisper/fresher air that comes along with it. I also love all of the fun Fall things we get to do like pumpkin patches, hayrides, corn maizes, Halloween, and to be quite honest - no more weeding the garden (I hate weeding!).

I just sold my business of 4 years (this week) so i'm anticipating spending loads of free time with my 2 boys, downshifting a ton and remembering what is most important in life and what we take for granted daily. I'm also hoping for some time to get re-acquainted with my sewing machine and scrap-room and remember what my passion was before it became my business.
