confetti

Before today, confetti was just tiny bits of paper cut so small that after a celebratory moment you'll be tediously finding them in every nook and cranny.
Before today they were only experienced at birthday parties or New Year's.

But now it has a whole new meaning for me. It's the only way to describe what happens to my heart on a nearly daily basis. It's those moments when my heart is filled with so much bliss it bursts into tiny bits of colorful confetti in the air then slowly falls like rain, dancing to the ground.

This happened today when I was looking at Lola. She was ready to take a nap, so instead of her usual cries she was content wrapped up in her blanket like a Christmas present. I was looking at her and, being the proud mother I am, gushing over her little button nose and perfect pout. She looked at me and smiled the biggest smile--like I said, confetti, everywhere.

Sure, I was vacuuming it up for the next hours but it's worth it, right? ;)
Although those moments are largely outnumbered by the pull-my-hair-out mommy moments, they give me the strength to make it through until the next burst of joy.

I hope you had a Happy New Years!! I was completely exhausted since I was up since 4 am that day and was planning on celebrating with my east coast friends a couple hours early. Or maybe even my Australian friends who were asleep. But I guess Lola was intrigued by the idea of her first New Years and didn't want to miss all the fun, despite her tired momma.

Thrilled for the new year and this unwritten chapter of our lives!

Ah, confetti, I love it - that's such the perfect way to describe it. May your confetti moments far outnumber the pull-your-hair-out moments and may you squeeze in just enough sleep to get to the next burst of confetti.

Happy New Year!

You know what I love about this photo? The sheer bliss on both of your faces!! Because yes, confetti is a bear to clean up after (I'm still finding a spare piece here or there from my son's birthday THREE MONTHS AGO), but you made that mess so your daughter could have a joyful moment. I think that is what unconditional love and true parenting is all about. Things like playing in dirt puddles, finger painting, "helping" to cook/bake/plant...those are what help our kids learn and experience. I think I need to make a resolution to make more messes with my son this year. Thanks so much for posting and giving me great ideas for things I can irritate my husband with this month. :)

Love those picture, you'll have to make a page using those for sure, such pretty colors! My kids are 13, 11 and 3, so I know all about those pull your hair out moments and those wonderful confetti moments, all part of being a mommy...the best but hardest job on earth (according to Oprah...:)

I know exactly how you feel...I am having a "confetti moment" right now! I have my 7 year olddaughter, Daley, on my lap and we are watching all of your videos and looking through many photos. Daley wished we had your address so she could send you a letter to tell you how pretty your blog is and how cute your daughters are!!!

This is somthing from Daley. I like your blog and I enjoyed your video about your baby. Love Tracy and Daley

Imagine the last paragraph in cute little girl handwritting! She asked me if it made you happy to get notes from people! :) Pretty cute!

cute post. Avery is such a beautiful girl. Even though Q wasn't in the photos I think Qutie Pie has the most adorable face and expressions. You are blessed with grace and love in each of your babies faces. (Yes, Collin is adorable too)
P.S. sleep is over rated, you can get through a whole day on nothing but giggles and fuzzy slippers

I know exactly how you feel. Every time my baby smiles it lights up my world and my heart burst with love. The other day my four year old wrapped her arms around my legs and said, "I love your heart Mom." Confetti bursting everywhere. :)
