confessions of a mom

Some days I stay in my pjs til the afternoon
Some days Avery really likes to test my patience
Some days when Collin gets home I go on a drive singing (off tune;) at the top of my lungs-it clears my mind
Some days I wish the laundry would fold itself
Everyday we ROTFL at Avery being silly
Everyday we dance in the kitchen
Everyday I can't get enough of Quincey's kissable cheeks
Everyday we sing "the wheels on the bus" over & over & over & over
Everyday I look at Q&A and am grateful that I'm a mommy

Everyday I marvel at the fact that although there are challenges of Mommahood-it is always more rewarding in the end!!

For no particular reason-except that it's just fun! :) I have a couple giveaways!!

First, Baby Cakes wants to giveaway a fabulous mom agenda desktop calendar! It helps you organize your time in weekly & monthly format & up to 4 kiddos. It comes in some other cool colors too!

Also, for those of you that don't have kiddos I have an awesome resource from CK titled "Month by Month Scrapbooking" by Amanda Probst that helps you scrapbook those holiday & seasonal topics through out the year. Plus some goodies! :)

Leave a comment with one of your {mom, woman, scrapbooker, wife, sister, friend}
confessions. :)

The above page is one of my faves from Quincey's birth day! :) It is from my Creating Keepsakes article, Dear Lizzy.

Sometimes after the kids are asleep I sneek in bed with them, just because I know that one day I won't be able to.

Some days I take my oldest to school in my pajamas because I just can't seem to get dressed until that first cup of coffee! But I still can't get enough of my twin 18month old boys' laugh! It's addicting!

I'm not a mum, so don't have a 'mum' confession, but my confession is that once i have the house to myself i love to get into my trackies (or something comfy) and sit and blog surf for hours...

I confess that many days I can spend many hours on the computer. I have to tell myself that I have a husband (I'm a newlywed)who I should be spending some time with!! I love him to pieces, but I love the computer too. Is that bad?!!

Some days when my husband and I are driving somewhere, we will turn up the radio really loud and do motions to the words of the song. People look at us like we are crazy and it's awesome :)

Some days it is SO hard to keep a straight face when I know that I shouldn't be laughing. Like when my son does something naughty but just hilarious... and I have to talk to him about it so that it doesn't happen again - but it's SO hard not to laugh about it! Like drawing a football play on his stomach with my lipstick... (he's four!)

I would love to win that month by month book!

I think any of us that stay at home have the PJ's Confession! But I must confess...I love the music on your playlist so much that I steal lots of your songs for my own. Where do you find this awesome music?

Marty Walden said...

Some days reading a book to the kids is more important than laundry, dishes, etc., etc.

Anonymous said...

Some days I let my daugther have a popsicle for breakfast and another sweet treat after lunch!
Alot of days we stay in our PJ's all day until right before my husband gets home..then we scurry to get dressed!! LOL
Most days I ignore it when my 15 month old son pulls my 4 year old daughters hair because she usually deserves it!! {I know that sounds bad..but she is really hard on him :)
I almost AlWAYS give my kids way too many kisses!!:) More than I can count!

Two Little Tots said...

Your first one is my too...I am still in my PJs and it is 1:30 pm. I need to get dressed at some point, but I am not going anywhere today.
And I LOVE your playlist...I am stealing some songs, that I just great!

I love being a mommy too. On nights when my head is spinning with thoughts and I can't sleep, I will often go sit beside my son, watch him as he sleeps, and pray. Last night (after a rough day) my four-year-old came and gave me a big hug and said "you're the best mommy ever". It's tender mercies like that which make being a mom and all the hard times worth while.

Sometimes I tell myself that ketchup is a vegetable, that if you serve the macaroni with white cheddar for lunch it's ok to serve the kind with orange cheddar for dinner, that if I can work out in my PJ's that they can double as my outfit for the day, and that I ask my husband to call me when he's leaving work so I can speed clean the house. And that being a mom is both the most rewarding and hardest thing I've ever done.

I love to look at your blog 3-4 times a day (just to check) while I should be working. I go into my son's room when he is sleeping and just hold his little feet because they are so warm and yummy. I take advantage of being in my last month of pregnancy to nap during the day on the weekends because this is my last baby and wont have that chance again. there is more but you have many to read.

During my little sweety's nap time I update my blog, then go blog hopping instead of getting ready for the day. Most days I'm still in my pjs till at least noon. Oh the life of a momma :)

a serious comment to confess right now would be that I hide in the bathroom to read a magazine. My kids think I am taking a bath or that I REALLY have to go to the bathroom and sometimes little fingers poke under the door looking for me, but I sit in peace on the floor of my kid's bathroom looking at beautiful magazines just for me!

Some days I feel like I can't be a mom today. Then, I remember, my husband was deployed for 15 months (and just got home without a scratch) and I was able to spend those months with our son. Every minute is a blessing and I need to enjoy them for what they are!

i just became a mother to the sweetest little boy and i could not imagine life w/o him! i confess i bring him in bed with me in the mornings to snuggle. we always said our children will no sleep in our beds but there is nothing better than snuggling there with him!

I confess that:

I can actually cry tears when I watch my 2 boys sleeping. (Long, long story, but having children doesn't come easy for us and I think I'm still a bit overwhelmed that we have two of our own!)

I have to eat a piece(s) of chocolate EVERY day.

I love your playlist so much I have made my own Elizabeth playlist.

I love snuggling into bed each night!!

I love listening to the boys giggling/laughter from across the house. It makes me giggle too!

I am not a momma yet, but enjoy my best friends kiddos most of the time as if they are my own. I like to take them for "test drives!" I like to take all 3 boys ages 4,6 and 8 to make sure I can handle it someday. haha. I have decided I can handle it about 75% of the time. I have not decided what that means to me. I don't know if that means that never when I am a mother should I take my children furniture shopping or if it means that I could only be a mother 75% of the time. Yikes.---I don't know how that would work. Hopefully, it's the first item.
One night the four year old spent the night with us. We watched Monsters Inc. 4 times and fell asleep on the couch. The next morning there was a huge wet spot on my couch. I asked him if he peed on my couch and he told me, "No, it was a big green monster and I punched him in the mouth, squashed him like a peanut and kicked him out the front door." haha I love those kiddos and can't wait to have my own. I am sure if I win the month by month scrapbooking kit I will learn to keep up with my scrapbook now and then will never get behind once I have kids. I hope that's the case. Maybe we should try it and I will keep you updated on the progress?!?!?!? haha I do appreciate all the wonderful things you post on your blog. It is a great inspiration!!

Lisa said...

Some days I do sit on the couch watching soaps while eating peanut m&m's and some nights it's find your own dinner!

Mom Confession: When my first son was born I was so lost in motherhood I did not think I was ever going to be a good mom. The first weeks are really tough! I would tell myself over and over and over hang in there-it has to get easier or the world would be full of one kid families. Then you learn to take one day at a time...and to take lots of deep breaths. :) Being a Mom ROCKS!

Anonymous said...

In confess, some days I let my kids fall asleep on the couch while we snuggle and watch a disney movie. I don't make them brush their teeth or put on their pjs first. We (my husband and I) just snuggle them up until they are fast asleep! My oldest is 7 and I know that she won't want to sleep on my lap for much longer. The other two are 5 and 1.
They pile on my husband and I like puppies, all warm and sweet. I just can't imagine anything better.

Anonymous said...

Somedays I read stories to my daugher in my bed instead of the sofa so afterward we can take a cat nap together. We just converted her room to a big girl room so I know my days of nugglin' are numbered! :(

LillyBugSkye said...

I may not be alone..... sometimes when I get into the car ALONE to run a quick errand, it takes me a song or two to REALIZE I'm listening to my kiddoes CD's. I'm usually singing right along with good 'ol Elmo or High-5 when it occurs to me that I HAVE THE POWER to actually listen to some adult music. Of course, I then turn it WAY up, sing loud and laugh at myself.

I have to eat chocolate at least once a day. I have a secret stash of it when I need to have a little pick me up! My daughter and I also stay in our jammies and then throw a hat on to cover our undone hair for unexpected trips out or visitors.

Funny you should mention confession today... in preparation for easter, our sermon yeterday was on confession! Here goes:

I sometimes wish I could gress my kids in fleece only, feed them cookies and Kraft dinner and chips, and let them watch TV all day because in my mind there would be so many fewer disagreements about "the rules" in our house!

Heather said...

Everyday I love my sons laugh, I have to admit I tickle him and tickle him to no end just to hear it.
It's the best laugh I've ever heard.

Somedays I give my toddler a wippie bath instead of the full blown thing every night. :)

Summer said...

When I want to look at scrapbook blogs, I minimize the internet windows and let my 18 month old sit on my lap to watch sesamestreet.org videos. Even though he's way past his "one-hour" TV rule for the day. I just need a break :)

My Mom passed away in January. We had a very close relationship so I miss her terribly. I have been blessed to have wonderful relationships with both of my daughters (13 and 5). Since my Mom passed away I have had difficulty sleeping at night so I go in their bedrooms and watch them sleep peacefully and pray for them. It makes me feel closer to my Mom as well.

mom confession...sometimes after my husband gets home, I just lock myself in the bathroom...even if it is for 5 minutes. Oh, and I REALLY look forward to naptime!

Anonymous said...

My confession is that I tell my 2 year old when he's going to bed and crying that he wants me to stay with him, that I'll be back in 5 minutes. He always falls asleep by 5 minutes anyway and I watch him on the monitor but feel bad sometimes that he may resent me for doing that.....or he'll never remember......I don't know.

I totally feel ya on the driving around singing thing...usually as soon as my hubby walks in the door I am ready to go to the grocery store or go get coffee or something, just to be out of the house for a minute!

my confession...
some days I long to have the house to myself, time with no one to need me and time for me to do anything I want without having to stop. Once a blue moon that may happen and guess what? When my kids/husband drive off, I am seriously lost for at least the first few hours and don't know what to do with myself. I miss them and start counting the hours until I am not home alone.

Before I lay down at night I go into my little boy's room just to make sure I really have him & that I'm not just dreaming after 5 years of infertility.

My confession is that as soon as I put my 1.5 and 3 year old boys to bed I sit in my favorite chair and veg out watching my guilty pleasure shows for an hour before getting ready for the next day (my husband is nice enough to watch my shows with me...I think he secretly likes them too, ha!).

My confession is that I can not get through the day without my coffee. This is a lesson I have learned since having my 2nd son. Who is now 1 month old, and we have a 4 year old boy :-)

Somedays my boys (5 & 3) drive me crazy and I can't wait till they go to bed. But once they go to sleep I miss them and I feel bad that they drove me nuts. So I go in and snuggle them and that always makes me feel better.

I sometimes want to just scream when I am the only one that notices clothes, shoes, etc laying on the floor and I have to tell my kids over and over to put these away. I sometimes they like to hear the sound of my nagging voice.

Sometimes when babies wake up fussy from naps, I grit my teeth so much in frustration that I think I might chip one of them (teeth, not babies).

one day i drove my kids to school in my bright red satin pj pants (telling myself that it wouldn't matter because i wasn't getting out of the car -- just school drop and then tim hortons drivethru) but then right before the drive thru some one had a bad accident in front of me and i had to get out of the car and run to the nearest house and get them to call the ambulance -- looking like aladdin's wannabe girlfriend(i haven't worn pjs outside of the house since!)

I confess that I stomped up the stairs and jumped up and down in a fit of sheer frustration -- and then turned it into a teaching moment, when I told my son, "That was me throwing a fit. Do you think that was nice?" He didn't. And I probably looked pretty silly.
