spectacular snowflakes

How could something as simple as a snowflake be so spectacular?

Yesterday at 11:45 on a Tuesday in the middle of the road.
A stolen moment in the snow.
Pretty sure my neighbors think I am crazy but it was too beautiful to watch from inside in my slippers, I wanted to sludge through it in my uggs & feel the snowflakes tickle my cheeks.
That's how things work lately. These quick, stolen moments.
Like last night, tweet # 1,537 'Never underestimate the power of a bubble bath.' Another such stolen moment that Collin, bless his heart, was trying to keep Lola happy so I could enjoy the bubbles longer but those few minutes were enough. And throughout the day when I steal a moment to work on a scrapbook page or send an email to a friend, or hum and sing to Lola in her room with just us. Not only do I strive to make time for these moments but also to notice them. Whether you work, go to school, or a mom... the things we do all day can be a bit monotonous but it's up to us to find the spectacular... somehow.

Leave a comment with your name and, if you want, share one of your spectacular stolen moments then you will be entered to win a necklace from Shop Ruche. They are one of my awesome blog sponsors. Ruche is where I got the coat I'm wearing in above photo and the boots, dress, belt, sweater I was wearing on our date night. Needless to say, I like to shop there. So if you want a chance to win the necklace below leave a comment and I'll choose a random winner, or I'll get Collin to choose the lucky lady... or man. Do any men read this blog? ;)

my favorite stolen moment is when either me or my husband is holding our son carter, and the other person sneaks up for a "carter sandwich".

Love Love Love all of your beauties from Ruche!
My stolen moments are few and far between, but if I have them, I love to read (books or blogs) and of course if I have a few more minutes, I will try to create a page or take a couple of pictures, whatever seems to work at the time.

My stolen moments are with my husband cuddling with no kids bugging us!
Beautiful photo of you!!!

My favorite recent "stolen moment" is right now! My little one has been sick all week. Believe me when I say this has been the longest week I've had in quite a while. Today I finally got him to take a nap in his bed instead of on me, so I retreated to my craft room to catch up with the world! God bless naps!

I had a spectacular moment the other day when, as I was getting into the car, I suddenly reminded myself of my mother. I can't quite put my finger if it was a gesture I made or a word I had spoken, but I realized that even though she's gone, she'll always be a part of who I am. (But boy do I still miss her!)

PS - My name is Anne Marie and thanks for such a fun blog to read - I don't know HOW you do it all!

I have 4 year old twins and it seems that the only stolen moments i get lately are when im sitting on the toilet! Too much?! I just sit there and think until my feet are numb or until they come bardging in! Hmmm, maybe i need to find a better moment! ha ha.

Keri Piercy said...

I love the mentally capture the moments when I witness my twins doing something together. No fighting, whining, "no fair" statements, etc. . . just being together and being connected. They are boy-girl twins and are getting older now (6 yrs), so their differences in interests are definitely starting to show more. I love to see them so close and reconnected on such simple things - sitting down and reading together, one stealing a random hug from the other or one crawling into bed with the other and falling asleep as spoons. I hope to always remember these moments, no matter how big they get! :o)Keri.Piercy@gmail.com

I love Ruche too! Unfortunately, we do not get many stolen moments in the snow in Austin, TX! I am doing plenty of wishful thinking that I will have a chance in the near future though!

My stolen moment is a very simple one. I have my cup of coffee every morning while checking email and blogs. My 16 month old happily plays around me and I'm able to ease into the day quietly! Because I am so not a morning person.

Anonymous said...

My best stolen moments are the days when I don't work until 12:30. The house is quiet - hubby has left for work taking our 2 yr. old with him to be dropped off with the baby-sitter. My step-daughter has left for school and it is just me and the dog. LOL I get to breathe and just be me. I get to take a lonnnng relaxing shower, maybe scrap a little, maybe catch up on some tv, indulge in a hot chocolate. Just a great time to take care of myself and re-energize.

My stolen moment... wakin gup early to blog surf, write emails, watch the news in the morning. I get up an hour early just to have that quiet time to feel that I can start the day.

Hey Collin, pick me! I'll send you some jolly ranchers when you get sick.

The Marlatt's said...

So we've recently made a rule at our house..no tv on at night until after bedtime, so my husband and I can start spending more quiet/quality time with our 3 girls before bed. The other night we were all in their room, I was laying on my daughters bed, 2 of the girls nicely playing barbies and my husband and our youngest playing Legos together. It was bliss! I love those moments together.

The Taylor Family said...

I love your blog!! My stolen moment would be at night when my two little girls are tucked into bed, and I hear my three year old say to my 7 month old, "I love you, Scarlette. Good night.." Melts my heart. And after day full of laundry and mommying, it makes it all worth it.
Thanks for the drawing.

I'm lucky in that my kids are both in school so I should have lots of stolen moments, but really I've gotten so used to the quiet and being busy that I do have actually, pause and enjoy the moment. Yesterday, we had a beautiful frozen fog morning. Some people would find that dreary, but I think it's beautiful.

Love your photo and that coat!!

the day my daughter came home from college for Christmas break I surprised her and took her to a little shopping district in town. It was just the two of us alot of snow flurries. We stopped at a little coffee shop and spent an hour talking and catching up. When we left I told her "the best day ever"!

I am so blessed that my stolen moment is part of a my daily routine: enjoying a cup of tea in the morning with my dear husband. Together for 8 years, but just married this past August, my husband and I were long distance (separated by 2 states) until just 3 weeks ago. For me, every moment is a stolen moment.

My stolen moments occur in the quiet of a school morning, when I am the first person awake. I shower, dress, and spend the next 10 or 15 minutes quietly checking my emails and favorite blogs, before the noise of my son's alarm clock jars me into movement.

As our snow is currently coming in the form of a blizzard, I am looking forward to gettin' up early tomorrow morning and make a cup of the new tea I bought today while just enjoying the quiet time....

As I sit here in Australia enjoying a 39 degree day and with the forecast of 3 more days in the low 40's to follow I can only imagine the amazing photo of you enjoying the snow flakes falling. I too could feel them drifting on my nose and tasting the coolness on my lips. The crisp air that catches your breath and the warmth of you favouite jacket. These are are such simple things but bring a smile to our face. This is just what I love in my life. It may be a song on the radio the smell of a flower the touch of a page the sound of a loved ones voice and it just takes moments for these loved and cherished memories to flood our emotions. I have 3 beautiful boys and they bring love and affection to my life everyday. I am truely blessed that we were chosen to have these children and I do not let a day go by without feeling the love and joy they bring. They are my life and I make sure I am always there to share every special moment with them. They grow so fast and learn so much and as parents we can guide them.xxx

Lizzy you are so wise to be so young. These stolen moments are usually heart felt as we age. For me it was closing the door to the room I was rearranging (scrap of course) and opening a package of semi-sweet chocolate chips for my Granddaughter to reach in and grab a handful and oh so slowly put each one in her mouth & then smile!

i am sure somewhere along the line i have posted but i did come back to sneak a peak at this post. i have moments each day as i lay in bed and think of all the wonderful things i have in my life. and even if something pops in that is not so warm and fuzzy i remember how grateful and blessed i am to have that moment. i truly treasure life.

My stolen moment is when I close the door of my craft room and play with my papers and fabrics. It is so nice and peaceful. I am a working mom, all day dealing with technology and mobile content, no free time. Your picture on the road is amazing, in my country, Brazil, is summer, the days are hot, very hot, no snow.

I enjoy a lot your posts and how you share your life with us, thank you so much (muito obrigada, in portuguese)!

um abraço, (hugs!) Sandra.

I stole a few moments last week to make some "milkmen" for my boys. Bakerella had posted them on her blog...take a milk glass shaped bottle, glue on some buttons, tie with scarf, fill with that white liquid and top with a white doughnut hole (or cake ball) jazzed up to look like a snowman's head with a colorful straw sticking through. Delightful, super cute and very satisfying!

Liz you are so beautiful and very photogenic just like your girls!!. Stolen moments for me I must admit are when I can step away from the busyness of life with 3 kids. I love putting my ipod on, music up high, listening to my favourite songs and going for a walk or run. It's a great way to just escape and moving my body helps free my mind and spirit. xx

Early morning is usually not my favorite time of the day. And as soon as I wrapped my head around my decision to be grateful and to live in the moment, beautiful rays of sunshine broke through my bedroom window. I was just thinking about this last night. My DH and I have 5 kids (oldest just turned 13 today! youngest is 4) my husband is Active Duty Army and is stationed in Korea-he will be gone for a year. The kids and I have weekly celebrations to help pass the time and give them something to look forward to. They didn't really like the way 365 days sounded, to them it is an eternity. :0) So we all have a slumber party in the living room on Saturday nights, we play games, watch movies, have some sort of fun dessert, we fill the house with balloons, light candles depending on what week # we are on; and make a wish for the next week and we blow them out together. We celebrate the fact that we have made it thru another week, and that we are one week closer to seeing Daddy again! It is a busy Saturday night, but we all love it and look forward to it. It is in the early morning when I look around at my 5 babies and see them sleeping so peacefully without a care or worry in the world that I just stop and soak it all in. There are times we are all snuggled up together and times when we are all spread out but just being able to look at them all and have my heart fill like it will explode because it is so full is my happiest time. It makes all the stress and the hard work worth every second of it. The times when I feel like I can't do it, I close my eyes and reflect on that picture that has been stamped on my heart and that is enough to give me just a little more gas to get thru the day. Stolen moments in the still of the early morning....those are my favorite!

Debbie said...

For me right now, stolen moments include watching my 3 little ones nap and the peace on those faces, sitting in a quiet living room with no Elmo or singing toys or fighting children, just quiet, even if it is for a few minutes and remembering how blessed the silence is and at the same time how blessed I am to have the singing toys and fighting children and yes, even Elmo, in my life. Feeling my next little girl move inside me, wondering if it will be the last pregnancy and enjoying this favorite part of pregnancy (the moving around of the little one) and finally, at night, when everyone is asleep and how nice it is we have a time to sleep and regenerate for another day.

I hope it's not too late to enter for that gorgeous necklace. I love your blog! With finishing up my bachelors degree this semester and expecting a little one to arrive in a few short weeks, life is busy! However, nothing can be better than stealing a few moments with this sweet baby girl as she dances around my belly and straight into my heart. We can't wait for her arrival!

My latest stolen moment was going to the restroom at CHA! The one by the loading dock waaaay in the back. The doors were open and the sunshine was pouring in -- felt so good after being on the show floor all day long!

Stolen moments are few and far between at my house. Usually I sneak into my office and dig out my hidden box of Harry & David Milk Chocolate Truffles (yes, I hide them from all the men in my life!) It's a good thing I have time for just one truffle...otherwise I would probably eat the whole box! ;)

Just breathing the scent of my new little man when I get home from work is the greatest moment of my day. (cute necklace!)

I love to steal the few moments I have when my 16 mo. old son is playing all on his own by doing the dishes and having a clean kitchen! Not exactly relaxing but not a whole lot beats a clean kitchen! :)

I may not have children, but my pups are my kids for now. It's nice on a dreary day when my beagle hops up on my lap only to lick me all over. She truly thinks I am the best (or at least makes me feel that way). True love comes in many different forms.

Love the Ruche jacket, I've been drooling over it since you first posted it when it was unavailable in size small. You look beautiful as ever and totally rock the outfit in the snow with all of your accessories (as usual).
